Event Facilities Coordinator- Steve Guerrier

My name is Steve Guerrier, I was born and raised in Philadelphia. Growing up, sports was the only thing I was really interested in. In high school, I did not see my self attending college because I felt as though there wasn't a major that interested me. One of my favorite teachers in high school was the one who told me that some schools had a sports management program. After I applied to Neumann I heard about their excellent sport and entertainment program and the rest is history. I have had the opportunity to work with two great sport organizations for my internships. I worked with the Delaware 87ers as a game operations intern and now I have the same title with the Philadelphia Union. Hopefully, one day I will have the opportunity to work with kids in the future, maybe as a owner of a recreational center.

Event Planning Coordinator- Tom Mauro

I chose Sport Management (not SEM at the time) because it was related to sport(honestly, did not know the opportunities within the industry). I came to NU to play baseball but tore my MCL (had tommy-john surgery). I then focused on my studies and did not return to playing baseball. My freshman summer I did my first internship with Cal Ripken Baseball. I had a great experience and they asked me to come back the following summer, so I did. After my sophmore summer, due to personal family financial reasons, I took a year and a half break from school to work and make an income(two jobs). When the time was right I re-enrolled at NU in their new SEM(& Entertainment) program. Within the same semester back to school I did my next internship with Competitive Edge Sports and currently work there part-time. Through CES, I was also employed with Philly Futsal. Currently, I am working in the industry with Competitive Edge and Philly Futsal in facilities operations, event management and social media management. I graduate this May of 2015

President -Bethany Lang

I chose Sports and Entertainment Management because I wanted to make a difference for student-athletes. In my perspective I see sports as a way to help children to develop and improve skills to be successful. When you are playing a sport individuals learn determination, perseverance, goal-setting, teamwork and values. As the role of being an Athletic Director, I want to prepare students for these future opportunities. My past internships have been The Reading Fightin Phils and The Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades. As an intern for the Reading Fightin Phils, I helped coordinate events, theme nights and community-based publicity for the team. This internship has developed my understanding on how the day-to-day operations work in a minor league baseball team. As the intern for The Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades, the institution advanced my knowledge of managerial functions of regulations at a smaller athletic program. From interning here, I achieved skills of doing statistical updates on the websites, budgeting of teams and policies implemented through the institution. These internships have allowed me to familiarize myself with the sports industry and have made me an ideal candidate for any position in sports.

Vice President - Anthony Garifo

I'm currently a senior at Neumann University studying Sport and Entertainment Management. My professional goals are to become a college football or baseball recruiter or a professional football or baseball scout. My professional experiences have assisted me in one way or another in achieving these goals. My first position in the sports industry was as an Intramural Sports Official for the Marshall University Recreation Center. My responsibilities were to prepare the courts or field of play, referee, score keeping, and/or recording game statistics for multiple intramural sports. During my time as an official, I officiated a combination of over 200 games in volleyball, football, basketball, and soccer. My first internship was with the Recruiting Office of Marshall University's Football team. My responsibilities were to analyze, research, and breakdown data and film on prospective athletes, contact high schools and coaches to obtain information on their athletes, assist with prospect visits, engage with current athletes, and assist Marshall football coaches and administration with game day tasks. Through this internship, I was given the full experience of recruiting and scouting athletes. My second internship was as an Athletic Performance Coach at Summit Sports Training Center. Obtaining this internship gave me a better understanding of how to examine an athlete's physical being. My responsibilities were to help conduct workouts for Division I, II, and III athletes, as well as High School athletes. My internship at Summit Sports Training Center opened the door for me to begin working at Kinetix Sports Club as a Personal Trainer. Here I trained clients of all ages, each with different backgrounds, genders, and goals. My current internship is as the Team Manager and Strength & Conditioning Coach for Neumann University's Baseball team. I conduct strength and conditioning routines, team warm-ups, assist with practices drills, and keep game statistics. I also have a background in Theatre, which gives me a unique skillset and mindset. This has helped mold my intrapersonal skills and ability to speak in front of others. This has also furthered my ability to work with a team to complete a common goal.

Human Resource Director- Brandon Sommermann

I have worked in retail all my life since the age of 14. And I have now started to expand into the professional work place of sports and entertainment. I have I had a couple of internships. Both of my internships have been done with the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation. One was under Hockey Operations where you go from site to site marking sure all the programs are running properly and smoothly. The other is going on right now in the Finance department with the foundation. So I am getting the whole company experience over the last year. The reason I chose this major was because I wanted to work somewhere in entertainment because one of my close personal friends knew a lot of entertainment people and I thought the industry was cool. But as I started taking the class my feelings changed a little and I started to get more involved in the sports side. So I got into this for the entertainment but thankful sports was connected to it and now looking more into the sports aspects.

Head Event Committee- Vince Ciccarelli

After I graduated from high school I began my college career at Wilmington University where I player baseball for the first year. I thought long and hard about it and I decided to stop playing baseball and focus on my education. I then transferred to Neumann University my sophomore year and I never looked back. I continued to study Sport and Entertainment Management and picked up a minor in business along the way. Neumann helped me build a network of friends and provided me with experiences I will never forget. My first internship was at IceWorks organizing the 2014 National Curling Championship. It was such a honor to work with their team and to gain those experiences. I picked SEM as a major because I was interested in learning the different aspects in the sport industry.

Head of Public Relations Committee- Scott Greene

I am a senior at Neumann University currently in the Sports and Entertainment Management program. I grew up in Bucks County, and I attended Conwell Egan Catholic High School. I have work numerous jobs and have had many different experiences. I have worked at a children’s theme parked called Sesame Place located in near my hometown. I worked the 2013 U.S Open at Merion Golf club, and that was one of the greatest learning experiences I have ever had. Because of that experience it has really pushed me in the direction of wanting to work in the golf industry. It allowed me to make connections and network myself with individuals already in the industry. The latest experience I have had was over this past summer I interned at Princeton Tec. It is an outdoor light company; they produce several different varieties of handheld flashlights and lanterns. My position was marketing intern, and with that title came a lot of responsibility. Everyday was a new and different task, and although not everyday was exciting it was still an excellent experience as I learned a lot about what goes into marketing and PR. I chose SEM as my major because of all the opportunities this major has to offer. It sets you up to work within different industries inside or outside the sports and entertainment industry. I am excited to start working and grow with a company because I believe I can bring new and creative ideas to aspects that are already in place to better a company.
